Crime Writing with Alex Gray

On Tuesday, Erskine Writers had the pleasure of welcoming one of its own members, best-selling crime writer Alex Gray, as the speaker and workshop leader. A very interesting, informative and creative afternoon was enjoyed by all.

Alex used examples from her own novels to illustrate the importance of setting, atmosphere and characterisation - then it was the group's turn! It was an extremely useful exercise, giving members the chance to begin their own stories which could be continued and worked on at home.

With her eleventh Lorimer novel, The Bird That Did Not Sing, published just this week, it's an exciting time for the prolific writer. The book launch was held at Waterstones in Glasgow on Thursday evening, and many members of Erskine Writers enjoyed hearing about the theme of this new novel, which is set at the forthcoming Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

To find out more about The Bird That Did Not Sing, you can read what Alex has to say about it on the Crime Vault website. Find out more about Alex Gray and her other books on her author website.
