There was a total of eight readings using the theme of
Nursery Rhymes (and fairy tales).
‘Jack and Jill’ was the most often used, but ‘Mary had
Little Lamb’, ‘Rain, rain, go away’, ‘Jack Spratt’, ‘Wee Willy Winky’, ‘Little
Miss Muffit’, ‘Sleeping Beauty’, ‘Dashing away with a Smoothing Iron’ and
‘Twinkle Twinkle Little Star’ were also explored.
Joan Fr, Morag, Kate,
Hilary, John, Donnie and Pete all contributed either in verse, stories or as
articles on the origins and use of nursery rhymes.

Sandra and Donnie had returned from their trip to New Zealand and Tasmania and related some of the many
highlights. Sandra had been a guest speaker at New Zealand’s first Rotorua Noir
Crime Writing Festival.

Jack read an allegorical poem using Old Testament and more
recent history to point to a perhaps modern version of a Trojan horse.
Joan Fr read what could have been used as an obituary to a
very dear old friend.
Kate read gave us a modern shopping experience with bewildering
choices. The title “Messages” might have confused non-Scottish readers.
