Days Like This - Creative Writing Workshop for Adults


National Library of Scotland Tuesday 14 October, 6.30pm – 8.30pm


To tie in with Days Like This – and with the fast-approaching deadline for submissions - the National Library of Scotland is offering a special creative writing workshop. Poet Ken Cockburn will help you to develop a piece of writing based on your own memories, stories and experiences, using photos and objects as inspiration.
The workshop is free but booking is essential as places are limited. To book a space call 0131 623 4675 or email events@nls.uk.

National Poetry Day ~ Theme 'Work' ~ Thursday 9th October 1 - 6 pm
In GoMA Library - Royal Exchange Square, Glasgow


The Federation of Writers (Scotland) will be holding an open mic session for readers of poetry fitting the National Poetry Day theme of 'WORK'. The event will start at 1 pm and will run on to 6 pm with frequent breaks (The Library has a well stocked cafe and eating is allowed in the area used).

We welcome readers and people simply wanting to come along and participate as audience members.

Marc will also be hosting an later the same evening at the Tramway.

Tramway will mark National Poetry Day with an experimental spoken word event, which will include, amongst a host of performers, Tramway’s new writing group Word Factory.
This spoken word event marks National Poetry Day. The theme of ‘work’ will be explored through spoken word, image and sound by a range of established and emerging word artists. The ambiance of Tramway’s CafĂ© Bar will enable you to relax allowing the spoken words to work. This event is curated by Marc R Sherland the chair of the Writers Federation and facilitator for Tramway’s new writing group, Word Factory.
