Annual Dinner and Prize Giving 2012

Another great time was had by all at our annual dinner and prize-giving on Tuesday 13th November at the Ingliston Equestrian Centre, Bishopton. The afternoon began with a get together to read a piece of writing related to the theme: ‘The Best Days of our Lives’, which incorporated childhood or school days.

We could either read our own work, or choose an excerpt from some other source. As always, the variety proved diverse and we were suitably impressed by the original writing on offer. We laughed and cheered, empathised and sympathised right up to the awards. This year’s recipients of the various cups and certificates were listed below. They were awarded by our own long-time member Sandra, aka crime writer Alex Gray, to whom our president, Joan Pretorious-Lougheed, presented a bouquet of flowers.

The prize-giving was followed by a delicious 2- or 3-course dinner and coffee, when more chatting was accompanied by wine. This annual event is the social highlight of our year and it’s a great chance for members to get to know one another a little better. It’s also an opportunity for postal members who live within reasonable distance to join us for dinner, if they work during the day. Roll on next year!

Many thanks to Joan Fleming for the lovely photos.

Rosemary
