Poetry Results from Sheila Templeton

Members of Erskine Writers were delighted to welcome well published poet Sheila Templeton to our meeting on Tuesday. In addition to being a prize-winning poet, Sheila is a former Makar of the Federation of Writers Scotland, and one of the adjudicators of their current poetry competition. Her work has appeared in a vast number of publications, including The Herald and New Writing Scotland.

Sheila entertained the group with readings of her poetry and explained the influences that inspired some of her work, such as memories and observation. Her recently published collection, Digging for Light, is well worth the read.

Sheila also adjudicated our Betty Munnoch Memorial Poetry Competition, providing a short written critique for all nineteen entered poems. She awarded the prizes as follows:

1st:  Kate Gordon

2nd:  Morag Moffat

3rd:  Elspeth Munro

Highly commended:  Kathleen Hammond

Commended:  Kate Gordon

Congratulations to all winners and commended.

Rosemary
