Success at the SAW Conference

Members of Erskine Writers have just come back from the wonderful Scottish Association of Writers annual weekend conference. The new venue at the Westerwood Hotel was a great success; the speakers, adjudications and workshops were interesting and informative and the competitions had even more entries than usual.

Elizabeth, Kate and Joan

One of the pleasures of the weekend is meeting writers from all over Scotland. Each year sees old acquaintances renewed and new friends introduced. As well as a huge number of competitions open to those attending, the weekend is filled with fun, laughter and good food, while delegates gain new knowledge, information and advice on everything to do with writing.

Erskine Writers' members once again proved their abilities on gaining the most amount of success as a group second overall to one very much larger writing group. Kathleen, Wilma and Rosemary were delighted to take part in Morag Moffat's powerful winning drama sketch on the Sunday. One of the best innovations this year was the Dragon's Pen session before the conference closed, where eight finalists had to pitch their book in only three minutes to a panel of three publishers. Fantastic presentations and book ideas!
