Members' Book Launches

This has been a good month for book launches, with two of our members enjoying large audiences at their recent events.

In Edinburgh on Tuesday 7th October, postal member Jenny Harper launched Maximum Exposure, the third book in her contemporary Heartland series. It was the culmination of a few exciting months since Jenny signed a four-book contract with Accent Press. Eileen Ramsay did an excellent job of introducing Jenny followed by some questions and answers. Jenny then read a couple of short excerpts from her novel, which is set around a newspaper office.

On Sunday afternoon, Jack Hastie launched his second children's novel, Neither Dead Nor Alive, at Kilbarchan, again to an appreciative audience. After the lovely introduction by his son, Jack gave an overview of his exciting time-slip story which sees Steve and Fiona battling against a curse from the Bronze Age. This was followed by a reading from parts of the book by young neighbours of Jack who took on the role of the two main characters.

Both launches were lovely events and they provided ample time to mingle amongst guests and to enjoy the drinks and buffet food provided. It was great to see postal member Mandy Sinclair, who illustrated Jack's book. Glad I managed to both events!
