After an enjoyable and informative talk on writing articles from Joan Fleming the other week, this Tuesday, 4th November, is the deadline for the General Article Competition to be judged by Joan. There is no theme and a maximum word count of 1200 words.
Joan mentioned plenty of areas where we might find ideas, such as: career; family; hobby; holidays; pets; anniversaries, and reminded us that research can take place online, through interview or in libraries. The format of the article should follow an introduction/hook, the body of the piece and a conclusion, while a catchy title is more likely to catch her attention.
