Erskine Writers Meeting 24th January 2023

This weeks meeting Sandra delivered a workshop on "Using the senses in writing'. We discussed the five human senses, sight, sound, taste, touch and smell. Sandra gave us examples of this from extracts of three of her novels 'When Shadows Fall' 'Five ways to Kill a Man' and 'The Riverman'

Sandra then set an exercise for the group asking that we use sensory image and evocative language and gave us 10 titles to work from. Donnie and Irene chose 'Witnessing a traffic accident'. Lorna chose 'A description of an old house'. Joan chose 'A description of a windy night'. Rob and John chose 'A young man having dinner at his new girlfriend's home with her parents'. Brian and Morag chose 'Walking through a pine forest'. Hilary and Sandra chose 'Being on holiday somewhere warm and sunny'.

The group provided really good examples of the senses with Sandra providing positive feedback from the exercise. Another excellent workshop greatly appreciated by all the group.
